Most of our punters here in the Football Transfer Tavern are rather keen to hear the latest bit of gossip coming from the Daily Star.
The publication seem to think that Swiss international star Xherdan Shaqiri is going to be a wanted man come January.
The Bayern Munich player has received limited game time under manager Pep Guardiola and it seems that both the player and his potential suitors are happy to agree to a January move.
However as our landlord notes, we think that given the long-term injuries that are being suffered by Bayern at the minute, they may have second thoughts when the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur come calling for the former FC Basel man.
After playing only 310 minutes of football this season, Shaqiri would be available for around £20 million and we certainly think there are more than a couple of suitors who would be willing to match that price.
Our punters believe that Tottenham could do with the skilful playmaker the most but with Chelsea reportedly interested too, Blues fans may be feeling confident that they can trump their London rivals for a third time in the transfer market after the previous captures of Willian an Mohamed Salah.
Tottenham fans. You’ve spent a lot of money on seemingly top talent in recent windows but it hasn’t worked out. Is there no risk with a talent such as Shaqiri however? Let us know your thoughts below.
