Metro have our punters in the Football Transfer Tavern looking a little bit more than bemused as they claim that Chelsea are eyeing a January swoop for none other than Cristiano Ronaldo.
Now as one of our punters notes, not only had Jose Mourinho claimed his side were done with their big spending ways but Manchester United would have to be the first club in line to land their former forward – wouldn’t they?
Well not according to Metro who seem to think that the Blues are setting aside £60 million to lure the player from Real Madrid after he openly fell out with Florentino Perez over transfers – and more accurately, the sales of Angel Di Maria and Xabi Alonso.
Ronaldo and his agent – who is of course Jorge Mendes – are looking for a way out the La Liga side and the relationship with former boss Jose Mourinho could well be key to this.
That is if you believe these latest reports that think the pair get on rather well. Other news sources would of course tell you that Ronaldo is simply eyeing a move back to Manchester with his relationship with Mourinho difficult at best.
Chelsea fans. Is there a cat in hell’s chance of this happening? Manchester United fans. Is it Old Trafford or bust for CR7? Let us know your thoughts below.
