Chelsea to lodge £16 million bid after Cuadrado swoop falters

Douglas CostaThe Daily Mail have made Chelsea fans rather excited here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they claim that the Blues are ready to make a £16 million bid for one of their long-term targets.

As one of our punters notes over a free game of pool, we note that the Blues normally get what they want in the transfer market and given they have been chasing the Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder for some time now, it stands to reason they are finally making their move for the now 24-year-old.

Given Costa linked up rather well with current Chelsea star Willian during their time together at the Donbass Arena, we think that Jose Mourinho could well be interested in pairing the Brazilian duo together once more and this is a rather interesting prospect if we do say so ourselves.

Chelsea have of course recently seen their prospects of signing Colombian international Juan Cuadrado fade fast after Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Montella quashed talk of a transfer away from Florence this January transfer window.

It appears that after this stance, the West London club have switched their attentions towards long-term target Costa who could well end up joining namesake Diego at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea fans. In recent days, talk has centred around Cuadrado and now Douglas Costa but is it another centre back you should be targeting rather than wingers? Let us know your thoughts below.
