There are gasps around the Football Transfer Tavern after it was revealed by Mirror Football that new Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has made an amazing £35 million swoop for Brazilian international Hulk.
Chelsea have turned to the 26-year-old Zenit St Petersburg striker after seeing long-term target Radamel Falcao make the surprise switch to big-spenders Monaco and are facing huge competition for Napoli star Edinson Cavani from rivals Manchester City.
Hulk came close to joining the Blues last summer while at FC Porto before he joined Zenit in a massive £50 million move but the club could not reach an agreement. However the Russian side are already ready to cut their losses with the striker after a disappointing first campaign for the Brazil star where he fell out with coach Luciano Spalletii.
However Mourinho is known to be a big admirer of the striker, who featured for his country against England last Sunday, and is desperate to add a big target-man to his squad in the mould of Blues legend Didier Drogba.
The former Real Madrid boss is eager to strengthen his attack and thinks that a swoop for Hulk could be the answer to his problems at Stamford Bridge.
Can Chelsea land the Brazilian striker? Should his failure in Russia lead Chelsea to avoid this transfer? Rate this rumour below.
