The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are expecting a busy few days on the transfer front, with just a few days until the Premier League window closes…
For the most part, the Blues have remained quiet with regards to transfers over the last few weeks – with the departures of Oscar and John Obi Mikel the only notable pieces of business – which for many has been a welcome relief.
Oftentimes, the Blues have gone on mass spending sprees in a bid to win the Premier League title in January, but with Antonio Conte leading his team so impressively – it would appear as though there is no such plan this time around.
That doesn’t mean that it will be a quiet close to the window for the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern, though, with the Telegraph reporting that Antonio Conte has as many as FOUR major transfer decisions to make before deadline day.
According to the Telegraph, the futures of Asmir Begovic, Charly Musonda, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Michy Batshuayi all remain up in the air – with the players still unsure where they will be playing their football come February 1st.
Having had a month to organise their futures, the fact that Chelsea still have so much business to attend to despite entering the final week of proceedings certainly doesn’t bode well for the players, with the Blues unlikely to be able to hash out a perfect deal at such late notice.
Charly Musonda, you would expect, could go out on loan – with the Belgian unlikely to feature going forward – but the futures of Begovic, Loftus-Cheek and Batshuayi are slightly more cloudy. Each member of the trio has featured at some point this season, and with Chelsea’s squad unusually thin at present – moving them on just for the sake of more game time could prove to be a mistake for the Blues.
Our landlord is expecting Musonda to leave, whilst with Chelsea reportedly sanctioning a sale for Begovic on the condition that they find a replacement, a deal for the Bosnian could also get over the line. Loftus-Chek and Batshuayi’s futures remain firmly in the balance, though – and a good performance in the FA Cup this weekend could determine whether they stay or go.
