Their final home game has gone and punters in the Football Transfer Tavern agree with Metro who think that it could spell the end for Chelsea’s veteran trio.
Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard and John Terry saw their season come to a close – at least in terms of their home games – and it was an emotional lap of honour for all three, with Ashley Cole in particular seeming to struggle with tears.
The left back is, as with the other two, out of contract at the end of the season, and whilst we think that both JT and Lampard will be handed new deals, the future is less certain for Cole and his tears at the end of the Norwich City game seemed to show that.
Cole was comforted by team-mates and it seemed reminiscent of the farewell Didier Drogba gave to the Chelsea fans after winning in Munich – trophy aside of course!
Chelsea are in the market for a left back and have made no secret of that fact, with Southampton’s Luke Shaw and Sevilla’s Alberto Moreno linked heavily with Jose Mourinho and his men.
Do you think Cole’s time at Chelsea has come to a close? What about his fellow players, Terry and Lampard? Let us know your thoughts below.
