Chelsea to pull out of long-term transfer pursuit?

Diego CostaThe Daily Express have Chelsea fans looking rather bemused here in the Football Transfer Tavern.

The publication seem to be under the impression that the Blues may well end their interest in Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa – who has of course been their top target for just about the whole season.

The Blues will now reportedly turn to Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani instead.

The reason for this seems to be the preference of owner Roman Abramovich, but as one of our punters notes, the last couple of times the Russian has been allowed to pick the forwards for the club, it has not exactly gone to plan with Fernando Torres being the prime example of this.

Costa is thought to be a Mourinho favourite and despite the Chelsea fans chanting to Costa ‘see you next season’ after their Champions League clash this week, with Costa waving in return, it has emerged that the forward did not understand a word of the chant and was in fact just being polite.

Our punters seem to think that Chelsea cannot do any worse than the current forward line they already boast and Blues fans would happily see either of the forwards arriving at Stamford Bridge next season.

Which forward do you think Chelsea should sign? Will Jose Mourinho be dictated to? Let us know your thoughts below.
