Many of our resident Chelsea fans thought it was the effect of our shots and subsequent drunkenness that recently had them staring up at our big screens in disbelief at Mohamed Salah’s hot vein of form on loan at Fiorentina.
But yes, it is the same man as the one who quite simply has let his time at Stamford Bridge pass him by and now, The Telegraph claim the Blues could receive as much as £18 million for his permanent services.
Having struck four Serie A goals in seven appearances for the Viola thus far, Salah is fulfilling the potential he once showed at FC Basel but with the current riches Chelsea possess, even this latest run of form probably won’t be enough for Jose Mourinho to retain his services.
What’s more, the same reports claim Vincenzo Montella’s side have already triggered a £1.5 million option to keep the Egyptian international in Florence next summer ahead of making up the permanent transfer fee which will eventually cost around £18 million.
Now staunch advocates of Financial Fair Play, Chelsea have impressively received rather large looking fees for their departed pros in recent times with David Luiz and Ryan Bertrand having left Stamford Bridge for an astounding combined £60 million.
One of our Blues regulars notes that with both of these players falling far short of being considered a true success in West London, you can’t underestimate the club’s power to receive as much as £18 million for Salah.
Chelsea fans. You’ve watched Salah first hand; what went wrong for him during his time at Stamford Bridge? Will Juan Cuadrado suffer the same fate before too long? Let us know your thoughts below.
