Chelsea to sign midfielder down to £3.7m contract

RamiresChelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been discussing the latest news concerning their club, with the majority of it being negative, but they’re pleased to see the latest reports coming out of West London.

Portuguese paper O Jogo state that the Blues will offer Ramires a new deal worth £3.7m a year, rewarding the 28-year-old Brazilian for his positive displays so far this season.

Ramires’ current deal with the Blues expires in 2017, the end of next season, but Chelsea value the player and don’t want him going anywhere.

Our regulars are happy to see a fine-player rewarded and believe it’s a positive move by the board, who they say have made mistakes in recent years by allowing the likes of Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard to leave on a free transfer.

Although Ramires isn’t rated as highly as that duo, the Brazilian has been one shining light in what has ultimately been a season to forget for Jose Mourinho’s side thus far.

Chelsea fans, does Ramires deserve a new deal? Let us know in the comments below!
