Chelsea to trigger Brazilian international’s release clause

Filipe LuisChelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are set welcome another Atletico Madrid player to their ranks this summer.

Metro are today reporting that the West London club will bid £21 million for Los Colchoneros’ first choice left back Filipe Luis – enough to trigger his buy-out clause.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has been chasing his man for what seems like an eternity but it now looks like he could finally be heading to Stamford Bridge.

Filipe Luis is seen as the perfect replacement for Ashley Cole who left Stamford Bridge earlier this summer after his contract at the club ended.

The Brazilian international defender looks set to be the third Atletico Madrid player through the Stamford Bridge entry doors this summer with a deal already agreed for Diego Costa and former Blues star Tiago tipped to return to London.

It’s already been a busy transfer window for the club with David Luiz leaving in a multi-million pound deal to Paris Saint-Germain and Cesc Fabregas coming in from Barcelona.
