Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are expressing their disappointment after hearing they look set to miss out on a prime striker target in January.
The Daily Express, via Le10Sport, state that Chelsea and Valencia are amongst the 15 clubs keen on Marseille star Michy Batshuayi– but the Spanish outfit are leading the chase for the Belgian’s signature.
Batshuayi, rated at around £35m, has grabbed Europe’s attention this season with scintillating performances from Marseille and the Belgian star looks likely to move on in January.
However, whilst Chelsea are actively targeting new forwards in the New Year, it’s Valencia who are in the driving seat for the signature of the 22-year-old as the Spanish side prepare for life without Alvaro Negredo.
Former Manchester City forward Negredo has made just seven appearances since a £24m move back to Spain in the summer and Valencia now want to offload the Spanish international, as they prepare for incoming deals to bolster their chances of returning to Champions League football next season.
Chelsea fans, is Batshuayi the ideal forward addition? Can you win the race? Let us know in the comments below!
