The Daily Star have some rather interesting news for Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern.
They claim that the club could well be prepared to allow three of their star players to sweat over their futures at the club.
Since the return of Jose Mourinho, we had thought the likes of John Terry, Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole would be safe – but that has not been the case.
Now the trio will be free to talk to other clubs come the start of the January transfer window and as our landlord points out, the Blues have no sudden need to remedy this.
Cole in particular has seen his place come under threat this season, even seeing right back Cesar Azplilcueta played instead while excelling in his position.
Cole is considering either leaving Chelsea for the interested duo of Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur – or retiring altogether.
Lampard meanwhile was handed a second chance by Mourinho after it seemed his future at the club was over and will hope a further season’s extension is agreed.
One of Chelsea’s best players this term has been John Terry, who is desperate to stay at the club and given his form, we think the club would feel pretty similar.
Chelsea are relaxed over the future of the three players and will stick to their policy of only offering a one-year extension to players of their age.
Will Chelsea keep the legendary trio on at Stamford Bridge? Let us know your thoughts below.
