Chelsea turned down in transfer pursuit

deulofeu.jpgThere are a few disappointed faces here in the Football Transfer Tavern as talkSPORT claim that both Chelsea and Manchester City are set to be disappointed as a transfer target is set to reject them both.

Barcelona forward Gerard Deulofeu is set to turn down the chance of a move to the Premier League after his agent claimed that despite struggling to break into the first team at the Camp Nou, Deulofeu is keen to sign a new deal with the Catalan giants.

The 19-year-old is a product of the world class La Masia academy and is regarded by the club to be one of the best to come through the system since Lionel Messi. The player is currently still playing for the reserve side, Barcelona B in the Segunda Division and despite making six appearances for the first team squad he is getting increasingly frustrated at his lack of chances to make a permanent mark for the senior outfit.

Both Chelsea and Manchester City have made enquiries about the player yet despite the 19-year-old’s contract expiring in the summer of 2014 his agent does not feel that it will be a problem to get a new one.

Chelsea fans. Are you gutted to have missed out on the Spaniard or not too bothered? Rate this rumour below.
