Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are still down after their Club World Cup final defeat to Corinthians on Sunday and today’s reports linking them with the man who put them to the sword; Paolo Guerrero will not improve matters.
According to the Daily Star, the Blues have started talks to bring the Peruvian forward to the club in the January transfer window. However they have now been told that they will have to find a whopping £30 million to bring him to England.
A whole host of European teams are reportedly interested including Juventus and Fiorentian and the new World Club champions are not prepared to let the 28-year-old leave cheaply.
Guerrero had an unimpressive spell at Bayern Munich before joining Hamburg who he left for Corinithians in July for a mere £3m.
The Daily Star also reports that Chelsea are set to sign French goalkeeper Mickael Landreau, who is a free agent after leaving Lille earlier in the month. The 33-year-old will join on a six month deal when the window opens according to the paper after he previously impressed Rafael Benitez.
