The Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern can’t get their head around some of Antonio Conte’s latest transfer targets.
The Football Transfer Tavern couldn’t believe it when the Blues were linked with a move for ex-Bolton man Marcos Alonso – and when the news broke of an impending move for David Luiz a few of the Chelsea locals thought they had knocked back a few too many TT ales…
Nonetheless, Blues boss Antonio Conte went ahead with the outlandish transfer decisions – and he looks set to plan another over the next few months.
According to the Sun, Chelsea are set to make a move for Tottenham and Euro 2016 star Ben Davies, whom rose to prominence over the summer with a stunning display for the Welsh national team.
Whilst not a regular in the Tottenham first team, Conte is reportedly keen on launching a £20m move for the defender – with Davies’ versatility and homegrown status of particular interest to the Italian boss.
Our landlord cannot get his head around this deal; Davies is a useful, if not key part, of Tottenham’s first team setup – but is he really of Chelsea quality?
The Chelsea fans by the bar have added a bit of credence to the deal, suggesting that with rumours linking Cesc Fabregas with a move away, and John Terry’s contract expiring at the end of the year – Chelsea could be left very short on homegrown talent.
With that said, whilst the deal is certainly out of left field – it does seem to make sense.
Chelsea fans – we want to hear from you! Thoughts on this deal?
