Chelsea ready to sell striker to Premier League rival for £12m

remyy77Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are expecting vast business from their side in the final days of the January transfer window, as they expect both incoming and outgoing deals.

The Daily Mail suggests Chelsea are ready to approve the sale of Loic Remy to Newcastle United this month but only if the Magpies stump-up a figure of £12m for his services.

Newcastle United boss Steve McClaren is desperate for a new forward this month to ease his goalscoring woes and bolster the Tyneside club’s chances of remaining in the Premier League next year, amid a tight relegation battle.

With 14 goals in 26 matches during a previous stint with Newcastle, Remy has experience of playing in the North East and Newcastle are keen to negotiate a loan deal, similar to the one they completed previously with Queen’s Park Rangers.

Remy himself is keen on an exit from Stamford Bridge this month as he searches for more regular first-team opportunities, with the intention of making France’s European Championship squad, and Chelsea are unlikely to stand in his way now that Alexandre Pato’s arrival is imminent.

Our landlord believes Remy would be an excellent addition to Newcastle’s squad and feels he can have the same impact as Jermaine Defoe has had with local rivals Sunderland.

Newcastle fans, should you go all-out and sign Remy permanently? Let us know in the comments below!
