Cesc Fabregas has developed into a cult figure during Chelsea’s title charge this season, playing his way into Antonio Conte’s plans after starting the campaign looking unlikely to feature much at all.
While Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern have not forgiven him for leaving their club for Barcelona only to come back a few years later with a major rival, Blues supporters appear to have rebuilt bridges that were burned when the 29-year-old was accused of being one of a group of players that caused Jose Mourinho to be sacked in 2015/16.
So there’s a feeling of happiness surrounding the Mirror’s report that £156,000-per-week Fabregas is ready to reject interest from Besiktas this summer to stay put and be part of Conte’s first-team squad.
The Spaniard, who has won titles in England and Spain as well as both the World Cup and European Championship at international level, believes he can stay a part of his manager’s plans, while he remains settled in London.
Cesc Fabregas is still a vital player for Chelsea – agree?
