The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern may not look back at this summer’s transfer window with too much fondness.
Antonio Conte had a tough summer in the transfer market, missing out on big targets such as Lukaku and Alex Sandro.
A few days shy of the summer deadline passing, Chelsea became linked with Leicester City and England striker Jamie Vardy.
The reported fee was £40 million but no move ever came to fruition as the 30-year-old remained at the club with whom he won the Premier League title in 2016.
Chelsea would have had the perfect start to the season if not for their opening day loss to Sean Dyche’s Burnley.
The Blues have since beaten Tottenham and Everton with new striker Alvaro Morata bagging two goals and two assists.
Despite the Spaniard getting off to a good start, a striker of Vardy’s quality wouldn’t hurt.
On that note, here are three reasons Chelsea must sign Jamie Vardy when the January window rolls around.
