Chelsea’s transfer business is expected to intensify in the coming days.
After months of speculation, the managerial mess at Stamford Bridge was finally resolved with Maurizio Sarri replacing Antonio Conte in the dugout. With the window closing on August 9th, Chelsea’s inability to replace Conte early has cost them in the transfer market. The Blues have signed Jorginho and Rob Green so far this summer.
The Blues are set for a busy few days with Roman Abramovich keen to back his new boss in the market. Following Danny Drinkwater’s dismal move from Leicester and Tiemoue Bakayoko’s poor form, it’s no surprise to see Sarri in the market for a new midfielder this summer. The perfect option could be Arsenal midfielder – Aaron Ramsey.
Valued at £40.5m by Transfermarkt, the Welsh international was a shining light in a miserable season under Arsene Wenger. He made 24 appearances in the Premier League, scoring seven goals and notching eight assists. Despite his performances, the Gunners could only manage a sixth-place finish.
Arsenal will be concerned that Ramsey could follow Jack Wilshere through the exit door at the Emirates. The former Cardiff City man has just one-year remaining on his contract and is yet to put pen-to-paper on a new deal.
Chelsea should look to take advantage and lure him to Stamford Bridge. The Blues could offer Ramsey a huge pay-rise and the offer of guaranteed first-team football alongside Jorginho and N’Golo Kante in the engine room.
If the price is right, it would be a wise move to make this summer.
