Abramovich could face battle to keep Conte as Chelsea boss attracts lucrative suitors

There’s little complaining that can be done from the Chelsea fans propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern, who have watched their side charge to the summit of English football once more under Antonio Conte.

The Italian has completely revitalised a Blues side who entirely flopped last term, making some slight tactical adjustments and endearing himself to the Stamford Bridge faithful thanks to his touchline antics. One of the most popular bosses at the club in years, our west London locals adore him.

Which is why reports from Italian outlet TuttoSport came as such shocking ones. On their front page (shown by Football Italia), they claim Inter Milan are ready to battle Roman Abramovich for his services.

Currently backed by Chinese investment, the Nerazzurri are understood to be ready to offer the 47-year-old a huge £13m-per-year to take the reigns at the San Siro in the summer as they plot a return to elite football. With Conte having won two Serie A title during his stint with Juventus, the former Italy coach is a winner.

A four-year contract is believed to be considered by top brass with former Champions League winners, though Conte himself is said to be happy in SW6 as things stand.

For the Chelsea fans here in the Tavern, they hope he’s around for years to come.
