The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are feeling optimistic about their title-defence after their sides impressive recent run of form.
Although Chelsea have been cut adrift of league-leaders Manchester City so far this season, the Blues in the tavern remain hopeful of defending their title this season with plenty of football still to be played. The hectic winter schedule always proves to be a critical turning-point in the season, and Chelsea’s appealing looking fixture list in December will give them reason to believe that City can be caught in the coming weeks.
The run of games building up to the January transfer window could potentially make or break the Chelsea career of David Luiz, providing that his career at the club is not already broken.
According to reports in The Daily Express, the Brazillian could be set to leave Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window with Real Madrid knocking on the door for his signature.
Although Chelsea are already struggling for strength in depth in defensive positions, a move away from the club would be in the best interests of all parties concerned.
The relationship between Conte and Luiz appears to have turned sour in recent weeks and the presence of a negative atmosphere between manager and player cannot be healthy for Chelsea’s prospects this season.
Luiz is never too far away from the headlines for one reason or another, and more often and not he finds himself in a media frenzy for all the wrong reasons.
The latest instalment of drama proves that Luiz places his personal value higher than the value of the manager and the club, and for that reason alone Chelsea would be better off without the Brazillian.
