Chelsea would become definite title challengers if they succeed in signing Juventus star Alex Sandro in the January transfer window.

According to a report in the Express, the Blues are preparing for a very active transfer market to start off the new year amidst speculation that FIFA want to slap them with a four-window transfer ban due to signing illegible players.

The ban could be a massive restriction on Chelsea who spend quite a lot of money, especially in the summer markets. But, out of fear for FIFA, owner Roman Abramovich, is now set to make quite a lot of cash available for signings to be made in the upcoming window with Sandro being high on their list.

Signing a player like Sandro, in January, will definitely not be easy, but the prospect of him moving to Stamford Bridge has a great feel to it.

The Brazilian has been terrific in recent seasons that saw the Italian giants achieve incredible heights, both domestically and in Europe.

Chelsea are however expected to receive some strict competition from other Premier League clubs in Manchester City and Manchester United.

But if the Blues manage to secure the services of the 28-year-old left-back then they would certainly have a good chance of pushing City and Liverpool to the very end in pursuit of their third league title in five years.

The competition that Sandro would offer to Marcos Alonso has the potential to see Chelsea flourish in an extraordinary way. Sandro, just like Alonso, likes to play high up the pitch, but is faster and quicker on his feet than the Spaniard.

Sandro is also capable of attacking and unleashing shots from either his left or right-foot, where Alonso is restricted to only his left. He is, therefore, a massive threat due his ability of executing fine cutbacks that make defending him very difficult.

Playing on the left, Sandro would be able to feed the excellent Eden Hazard in front of him, who also likes to cut into the middle, which will make it so much harder for the opposition to control the left flank.
