The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been praising their U18 side after they ran out 3-0 winners in the first leg of the club’s FA Youth Cup semi-final away at Birmingham. The young Blues will now be bringing a healthy lead into their game at Stamford Bridge as they aim to win the competition for the ninth time and extend their winning run in the competition to five years.

The FA Youth Cup has been dominated by Chelsea over the last ten years. The last time the final was contested without Chelsea was in the 2010/11 season and The Blues have won the competition six times in the last eight years. Considering the Stamford Bridge faithful’s incredible record at youth level, you’d think that a number of these players would be promoted to the first team, although many of then end up leaving for first-team opportunities after being snubbed by the Chelsea senior squad.
Chelsea have an incredible reputation for loaning out an obscene number of players and failing to promote them to the first team, despite the majority of them having glittering careers at youth level in the Chelsea ranks. With the first leg of the semi-final near enough sealing Chelsea a place in the final, the club can start planning for what will be their seventh straight final. The club will have one eye on matching an impressive record set by Manchester United in the competition of winning it five years in a row. Chelsea have won it for the previous four years and could equal a record set by United between 1952-57 with victory in this season’s edition of the tournament.

These kids show more heart than the first team. Give some a chance especially now we’ve got no chance of 4th spot barring a miracle.
