Carlo Ancellotti is preparing a mass Summer clear-out at Stamford Bridge, in a bid to improve his squad for next season’s Premiership campaign. The Italian has already targeted several big name exits, as he attempts to recoup the losses he made in the January transfer window and trim down his squad for next season.
One of those on the ‘For Sale’ list could be Yuri Zhirkov, who has today announced his intention to leave Chelsea, if he is not offered first team football. The Russian midfielder said
‘If I fail to achieve that between now and the summer, I will start thinking of other possibilities.’ The 27 year old was Ancellotti’s first signing back in July 2009, and cost £18 million from CSKA Moscow. Since then he’s made only 26 appearances for the Blues. Zenit St. Petersburg and CSKA Moscow are said to be monitoring the situation.

It’s already being suggested that Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka are due to leave the Bridge, but rumours are circulating that Florent Malouda could also be part of the mass exodus. Ancellotti is supposed to be put off by 30 year old Malouda’s advanced age, as he prepares to bring in some young blood to reinforce his squad. Spanish side Hercules, are planning a £7 million swoop for the Frenchman who has scored 20 goals for Chelsea.
Next on the list is Portugese right-back Jose Bosingwa. Juventus are in line to complete a £10 million move for the player, and Chief Scout Mauro Sandreani was spotted in the stands as Chelsea beat Copenhagen 2-0 on Wednesday night.
And finally, Bolton have apparently enquired how much it will take to turn Daniel Sturridege’s loan deal into something more permanent. The figure being suggested by Chelsea sources, is around the £10 million mark. Sturridge has been doing well for the Trotters, scoring 3 goals in 5 appearances for the Lancashire based club.
