Chelsea supporters in the Transfer Tavern are sincerely concerned at the lack of depth that their team exhibits.
With only two weeks remaining in the summer transfer window, our resident Chelsea fans are echoing the same sentiment that Antonio Conte has expressed throughout pre-season. The Blues require more signings. The Champions have sold or released 13 players while allowing another 25 to depart on loan; only four additions have been made to the Italian’s squad. Consequently, it is evident to see why the 48-year-old has been stressing his desire for reinforcements.
Time is certainly of the essence for the Pensioners, and accordingly, our landlord believes that Conte should target versatile players to ensure that he has sufficient cover for all positions. It is reported that Chelsea are targeting Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and our landlord has highlighted another player that could provide the Champions with invaluable protection, that they so desperately crave.
Sergi Roberto’s significance to the Barca cause has been hindered by the arrival of Paulinho, and the 25-year-old could prove to be the perfect signing for the Blues. Chelsea require cover at RWB and CM; the Spaniard can function in both positions. His strengths are unquestionable, he’s an accomplished passer of the ball, and his ability to retain possession is also very impressive.
Our landlord believes that Conte should do everything in his power to ensure that the Spaniard becomes a Chelsea player this summer.
Chelsea fans, do you agree? Let us know!
