Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are counting the minutes until the start of the new Premier League season and a chance to wipe the slate clean after the horrors of their last outing. With this new era under Conte comes the excitement of who he wants to bring in, and he’s not giving up on this man.
This summer is seeing mistakes of yesteryear being punished as both Man United and Chelsea are preparing to fork out ridiculous amounts of money to bring back players that previous managers had let go.
According to reports from The Mirror, The Blues have stepped up their chase to re-acquire the services of Everton striker, Romelu Lukaku.
Conte saw a bid of £57m snubbed by The Toffees but is now ready to return to the table with a mammoth offer of £67m.
However, although such a bid would test the resolve of those at Goodison Park, it still does not meet their £75m valuation of the Belgian international, who left Stamford Bridge for a fee of £28m in 2014.
It is clear that any deal for the 23-year-old will smash the British transfer record set by Man United when they bought Angel Di Maria £59.7m, however that record will be eclipsed should Untied’s Pogba deal go through.
Chelsea fans, we want to hear from you! Would you like to see Lukaku back at Stamford Bridge? Is he worth the money Everton are asking for? Let us know below…
