In an exclusive interview with BeIN Sports, as reported by Goal, Eden Hazard appears keen on a move to Real Madrid this summer.

Rumours of a Hazard switch to Real Madrid have persisted throughout the summer, and as the Belgian continues to shine at the World Cup in Russia, then the more excited Real fans will be about his potential arrival.

With Cristiano Ronaldo looking set to leave the Bernabeu this summer for Juventus, there will finally be room in the Real Madrid squad for someone like Hazard.

As smart an acquisition as the 27-year-old would be for Los Blancos, he’d be an even greater loss for Chelsea.

The Blues might not be able to hang on to Hazard, so they must do all they can to force this deal to work for them as much as possible.

The Breakdown

Transfermarkt value Eden Hazard at £99 million, the majority of which could be raised by Madrid via the sale of Ronaldo.

Chelsea will struggle to reinvest that money in another player of Hazard’s quality though, not least because the Blues won’t be involved with any Champions League football this season.

However, if the Stamford Bridge club can force a swap deal, bringing Marco Asensio to England in Hazard’s place, they may even have managed to get the better end of this deal.

Asensio is valued at £67.5 million by Transfermarkt, yet he is not a guaranteed starter in Madrid owing to the talent around him. At Chelsea, he’d not only be a starter but a star.

Asensio plays a similar game to Hazard, and at only 22-years-old, the Spaniard could even develop into a better player than the Belgian.

If Chelsea can make this player switch happen they can avoid the loss of Hazard being a disaster and instead come out of the deal with a reason for optimism.
