Chelsea

Big money deal in doubt and Chelsea fans must be absolutely delighted

Diego Costa helped Chelsea to their second league title in his three years there only a few days ago, much to the delight of the Blues in the bar of the Transfer Tavern.

The Spaniard is a popular figure amongst the west London locals propping up our bar, though his future has been up in the air for what must seem an eternity now.

Despite his pivotal role in Antonio Conte’s title-winning side, suggestions he could make a money-spinning move to the Chinese Super League have been rife over the last few months.

Which is exactly why reports from the Times have gone down so well today. They claim that, while the 28-year-old could still depart, the PL champions will not be forced into any sale.

Indeed, they will reportedly demand in excess of £60m if any team is to attempt to take the former Atletico Madrid marksman from Stamford Bridge.

Such is the nature of his importance in SW6, Chelsea are said to be adamant nobody will get him on the cheap this summer and his potential move to Tianjin Quanjian is understood to be in doubt.

A mammoth £76m switch to the CSL outfit has been touted of late, though the news from the Chinese Football Association yesterday of a new 100% tax to be imposed on the signing of foreign players looks to have scuppered it.

Desperate to keep him at the Bridge, the Chelsea fans in the bar are delighted.
