Boss demands star player sale as Chelsea weigh up big £48m swoop

It was a pretty wonderful campaign for the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern, though the FA Cup final loss to bitter rivals Arsenal had our locals eager to see the club splash big money this summer.

With a return to the Champions League on the horizon, the Blues in the bar believe Antonio Conte needs to seriously strengthen if the Premier League giants are to challenge in Europe.

So, reports from the Sun have certainly sparked interest amongst our west London locals.  They claim the Stamford Bridge titans remain keen on a move for Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci and could reportedly offer £48m + Nemanja Matic for him.

Widely regarded as one of the best defenders in the world, the 30-year-old is thought to have fallen out with Max Allegri in Turin. The latter is believed to think his star stopper did not follow instructions in their 4-1 loss to Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

The Old Lady are said to be admirers of Matic – who has been linked with a move to Manchester United of late – so Chelsea are thought to be considering including the Serbian in a deal.

Indeed, Allegri is reported to have demanded his sale this summer, with Manchester City also linked of late.

Bonucci’s potential arrival has the Blues in our bar excited about next season, with many of them believing he’s simply the best central defender in the world.
