Chelsea supporters in the Transfer Tavern are still celebrating their title success, yet have some mixed emotions as a central midfielder is poised to join rivals.
Fans of the west London team are still celebrating with joyful delight after Antonio Conte orchestrated a successful campaign that led to their 5th Premier League title – their second title in the space of three seasons. And while many of the fans lining up in the tavern, perceive this window as an opportunity to spend big – particularly with the club’s return to the Champions League – one key player looks set to leave.
Nemanja Matic has played a crucial role in Chelsea’s title successes of 2014/15 and 2016/17, yet he is seemingly poised to depart SW6 to reunite with Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.
The Guardian report that the deal could be complete this week, with personal terms and the fee having been agreed already.
Throughout the entirety of his Chelsea career, the 28-year-old has made 154 appearances, scoring seven goals, so his contribution to Chelsea’s over the course of the past three seasons and a half cannot be underestimated.
Here, then, is the best of the reaction to the news on Twitter:

Selling Matíc for the same, if not more for what we get Bakayoko for is brilliant business in my eyes. Financially and on the pitch. #cfc

He was bad at times but nowhere near as bad as people made him out to be. Many senseless agendas against him

For those writing Matic off completely & saying the 2015 version was better, he was a huge part of #CFC success last yr. 35 league apps.
