‘Caretaker manager will be sacked’, ‘Must grab the chance’ – Chelsea fans call for talent to start vs Everton

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern were relieved to bounce back from consecutive Premier League defeats with a hard-fought 4-2 victory against Watford on Saturday.

Chelsea came from behind in an enthralling encounter at The Bridge to claim 3 points and ensure they remain within touching distance of early-season pace-setters Manchester City. On the other hand, the Hornets will be feeling short-changed after they returned to Vicarage Road with nothing to show for their efforts following a commendable display. Next up for Chelsea is a home-tie against struggling Everton in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.

Conte is expected to ring the changes for his injury-riddled side and hand Belgian hot-prospect Charly Musonda a place in his starting eleven. Musonda recently made the headlines following a brazen outburst on social media, where he expressed his bitter disappointment over a lack of involvement for the first-team, despite his greatest efforts to impress this season.

Chelsea’s youth policy and general attitude towards emerging talent produced in their academy was further called into question by pundits on BBC Radio 5 live, particularly by Phil Neville, who passionately claimed Chelsea “should close their academy”.

Neville’s stance has stimulated a debate in the footballing world about the modern-day status of Premier League academies – as the purpose they traditionally served appears to be a diminishing concept in the current economic landscape.

The Chelsea fans on Twitter certainly seem eager to see more of their academy talent getting a chance to shine in the first-team squad.

With that being said, here’s what they had to say about Musonda…
