Chelsea and Barcelona locked in €18m talks over stalwart defender deal, Man United also keen

Cesar Azpilicueta

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern simply cannot wrap their heads around this one. It’s genuinely starting to look as if one of their stalwarts will be sold this summer, a man who has been a pillar upon which the Blues have built much of their recent success.

According to Spanish outlet ASBarcelona have made contact with the West London giants over the possibility of luring stoic defender Cesar Azpilicueta to the Camp Nou over the course of the summer.

Despite being a mainstay in the first-team since joining the club in 2012, incoming boss Antonio Conte is reportedly willing to sell up.

Though Manchester United are understood to be keen, the Blaugrana are said to have opened talks with those at Stamford Bridge in an attempt to lure the former Athletic Bilbao man back to Spain.

Having all but lost Dani Alves to Juventus, the La Liga champions are on the lookout for replacements and have been frustrated in their attempts to land Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin.

Chelsea are understood to be looking for around €18m, roughly £13m, for the La Roja star.

Why on earth are Chelsea willing to sell him?!
