A debate has been raging all day here in The Football Transfer Tavern between devout Chelsea and Everton fans. News as broken that takes both clubs a huge step closer to landing a key target, but they are arguing over who will win the race.
Reports from Italian radio station, Radio CRC (via talkSport) make it clear that Napoli defender, Kalidou Koulibaly is on his way out this summer.
Chelsea and Everton have both been linked with a move for the central defender and now his agent, Bruno Satin, has handed them a massive boost.
Speaking to Radio CRC, he said:
“The desire of the player is still to leave, not to renew, also because the signals from the club are not a motivation for the player.
“They say he is a great player, but their offer doesn’t reflect that,” he added.
“Last year they wanted to send him away, saying that he is not focused, but last season he showed all of his qualities.”
Our eagle-eyed Landlord has pointed out that on top of the fee, the Senegalese international will also command a hefty wage. According to reports in the Evening Standard, the offer which Satin spoke of was around £56,000, with the player asking for closer to £100k a week.
Chelsea and Everton fans, what do you make of this? Is Koulibaly worth the money? Which club will be more willing to stump up the cash? Let us know below…
