One player we have had our eye on here at the Football Transfer Tavern is 19-year-old Lucas Digne who has impressed no end for Lille in the last 12 months, leading to mass speculation over the future of the player.
It was reported by Sky Sports that L’Equipe revealed the much sought-after defender has penned a contract extension at Les Dogues, meaning that his list of suitors which includes both Manchester clubs, Chelsea, Liverpool, Inter Milan and Real Madrid (not exactly scraping the bargain basement barrel with those clubs is he!) will have to wait until 2017 at least as the player claims he “feels very happy at Lille.”.
The wonderkid who only signed a professional contract in 2010 is versatile and can also adapt to play in midfield, and is quickly working his way through the ranks not just domestically but also internationally rising from the French Under-16’s to the Under-19’s in a matter of months. Digne is fully focused on reaching senior level, confiding that: “Which shirt makes me dream? Only the French shirt makes me dream.”
Digne feels that by sticking with Lille he will have a better chance at breaking into the senior international side and is happy to disappoint scouts such as Manchester City’s Patrick Vieira who has been to watch the £7 million rated player a host of times already.
