Chelsea: Blues fans react to surprising transfer link with Genoa’s Nicolo Rovella
According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, Chelsea are scouting Genoa academy prospect Nicolo Rovella and are facing a bidding war with Serie A giants Inter Milan.
Whilst admittedly very little is known about Rovello, the 18-year-old has scored 3 goals in 15 appearances in Primavera 1 and made a brief debut in the Italian top tier this season (Transfermarkt).
Rovella could be a replacement for countryman and fellow defensive midfielder Jorginho in the future. However the Italian U21 international will face tough competition from Stamford Bridge starlet Billy Gilmour, who earned himself a Man of the Match award with a sensational display against Liverpool in the FA Cup on Tuesday.
Naturally this peculiar transfer link has left some Blues fans scratching their heads, with one asking “who the hell is he?”
