Antonio Conte’s name rings around the Transfer Tavern both often and loudly this evening as the Italian closes in on a Premier League title in his first season on these shores.
The Italian is a hugely popular figure amongst the Blues in the bar thanks to his tactical tinkerings and fiery touchline antics. Indeed, the fact he’s closing in on a league and cup double during his first campaign in charge also helps.
Still, the former Juventus and Italy coach has still been touted for an exit this summer. Inter Milan are reportedly eager to bring the 47-year-old back to his homeland with a lucrative offer, much to the chagrin of the Chelsea faithful.
He’s also been mooted as a potential target for Barcelona this summer as they look to rebuild, following his impressive work in both London and Turin.
So, comments from Sky Sports’ La Liga expert Guillem Balague have given the local Blues a boost today. Answering in his Q&A on their site, the pundit has given an emphatic answer when asked about those very rumours.
”Not a chance. Conte is definitely, 100% not going to Barcelona. He doesn’t suit the style and is not the profile they are after.”
All is well for now then….
