Just as Callum Hudson-Odoi had started to weave his magic in the Premier League, a tragedy ended up halting his progression.

Indeed, as you'll know by now, the 18-year-old was the most unfortunate victim of the Burnley game on Monday, suffering a season-ending injury in the process.

It was later determined that it’s indeed a bad injury, meaning Hudson-Odoi won’t be able to play anymore this season and beyond. Not only will this knock be a setback for his own future at Chelsea, but could inevitably hurt the Blues' progression. The 18-year-old acted as a breath of fresh air through the right and caused many problems to Burnley too with his movement.

Before the unfortunate injury, he brightened up Chelsea’s attack, proving to be an upgrade over the underperforming first-teamers. Hudson-Odoi assisted a goal in his Premier League debut last month, while also scoring 2, assisting 1 in the Europa League round of 16 as well. A perfect companion to Eden Hazard, the 18-year-old’s dazzling skills and trickery on the ball won over fans.

His introduction into the team has also been a way for the fans to connect with the team again. Along with fellow academy graduate Ruben Loftus-Cheek, it was a reason to smile for the Stamford Bridge faithful amid an otherwise pretty frustrating campaign.

However, now the dream run’s been postponed to next season. With some crucial games coming up, including a trip to Old Trafford and Europe League semi-finals against Eintracht Frankfurt, Chelsea needed his youthful venom to bamboozle opponents.

Maurizio Sarri’s quest for a trophy or top-four qualification just got even more difficult. After finally giving the youngster a chance, he needs to go back to the drawing board and come up with another winning combination to end this erratic season on a high.
