With Alvaro Morata all but set to join Chelsea, the punters propping up our bar are absolutely delighted about life again.
It’s been a relatively slow summer at times for the Blues in the bar, though the Premier League champions look like they’ve found some momentum at long last, with Antonio Conte’s recently signed contract a major boost to everyone connected with the club.
Indeed, speaking of contracts, they seem to be the flavour of the month at Stamford Bridge.
As confirmed by their official website, the club have handed promising young defender Jay DaSilva, who will return south of the River Thames on loan with Charlton again. Having spent half of last season with the Addicks, the 19-year-old has been handed a new four-year deal in SW6, before making the same move.
A versatile wide option, the defender-cum-winger recently skippered the England U19s to the European Championships and, for the most part, the Chelsea fans in the bar are delighted about the news.
Much has been made out of the Blues’ stockpiling young players over the years, though few could argue how successful in terms of making money it is.
Thoughts?
