Chelsea considering astonishing move for lucrative Ghana forward, flopped in the Premier League

Asamoah Gyan

Every so often, even the bar-stool-experts in the Transfer Tavern are met with a rumour that springs from the proverbial mill and shocks them all.

Today, fans have been left shell shocked following reports from the Chronicle Live linking Chelsea with former Sunderland striker Asomah Gyan, currently earning incredible sums of money with Shanghai SIPG.

The Ghanian was a club record signing for the Black Cats, moving to Wearside from French outfit Rennes in 2010, though failed to hit the heights expected of him at the Stadium of Light.

According to the report, the Chinese outfit are prepared to sell 30-year old this summer and the Blues are claimed to be keen on the African marksman.

Though Romelu Lukaku is believed to be the main target for the club, the whole strike force at the Bridge may need replacing.

Doubts persist over the future of Diego Costa, while both Radamel Falcao and Alexandre Pato have failed to wholly convince.

Obviously, he will reportedly be asked to lower his stunning wage demands, understood to be around the £227,000 per week mark.
