Chelsea dealt monumental blow in pursuit of Champions League winner

Chelsea fans in the garden here at the Football Transfer Tavern have just had their hopes of seeing another big name striker make the move to the Bridge dashed.

According to reports from Spanish radio Cadena SER, the Blues have had a massive €75m bid for Real Madrid and Spain forward, Alvaro Morata.

The 23-year-old is a peculiar case considering he is being treated more as a business asset than a player this summer having been bought from Juventus a few weeks ago.

Madrid acted on their buy back clause in the Spanish international’s contract and were said to be considering selling him on for a massive profit as opposed to keeping him.

However, it appears that the Chelsea target may be set to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu, unless Conte ups his offer to the reported €80m that Zinedine Zidane is asking for.

Chelsea fans, we want to hear from you! Do you really need to spend this much on another striker? Should Conte just stick with what he’s already got? Let us know below…
