Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are discussing the likelihood of seeing a first-team squad member leave this month, following news of the Blues’ demands.
The Daily Mirror state the Premier League leaders have informed Bournemouth that they will have to pay £12m for the services of Asmir Begovic, with the Cherries having already made an offer this month.
The 29-year-old Bosnian international has made just four appearances this season for Chelsea and has been subject of a £10m bid from the South Coast side, but the favourites for the title are holding out for a higher amount.
Signed two years ago for £8m, Chelsea are keen to earn a profit on the experienced goalkeeper and the player himself knows the South Coast well, having spent time with Portsmouth many moons ago.
Losing Begovic would affect Chelsea’s squad depth but it wouldn’t be too much of a loss, with our landlord believing the player will leave the club this month.
