The Middlesbrough fans who are gathered at the bar in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing reports linking the club with a move for a Chelsea defender.
According to a report from Gazette Live, the agent of Tomas Kalas has revealed that the newly promoted Premier League side are interested in taking the defender to the Riverside this summer.
The Czech defender only signed a new three-year deal at Stamford Bridge last season, though is at the stage of his career where he wants to be playing regularly.
After a stunning debut against Liverpool in the 2013/14 season, his progression with the club has stalled.
Speaking about the poteni his agent Mithat Halis said: “Kalas wants to stay in England next season, preferably in the Premier League.
“He is happy at Chelsea but Middlesbrough are interested.”
Kalas spent his second spell on loan with Middlesbrough last season and at the conclusion of the season he admitted that he would love to make the move to Teeside a permanent one of he wasn’t given guarantees by Chelsea that he would see more action for them.
