Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are nervously anticipating tomorrow’s crucial Premier League clash with Everton, which could have a drastic impact on the title chase.
Antonio Conte’s side sit seven points clear of second-placed Tottenham heading into the weekend, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side facing a difficult challenge against Arsenal tomorrow- but Chelsea’s fixture with Everton will also be testing.
Whatever the course of the scenario played out between now and the end of the season, Chelsea fans have made it clear they want to drastically improve their squad depth ahead of their Champions League return next season but they’ve been made aware of some disappointing news.
Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo states Barcelona have made contact with Paris Saint-Germain’s midfield ace Marco Verratti, with the Italian’s agent, Donato Di Campli, seen with executives from the Catalan club during the Champions League quarter-final defeat to Juventus.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is an admirer of Verratti’s and fans in the bar have been praying for him to seal a move this summer, as they speculate whether Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic will be at the club next season.
Our landlord believes Chelsea could still seal a move for the 24-year-old if they act quickly, as he feels they’ll be able to offer a more lucrative contract.
Would Verratti be the perfect recruit for Chelsea this summer? Let us know in the comments below!
