Chelsea: Fans approve banner lauding Frank Lampard as ‘the special one’

Chelsea fans are giving their seal of approval to a banner in honour of manager Frank Lampard in the club’s game against Tottenham Hotspur.

According to The Daily Mail, the west London faithful are planning to make a banner that lauds the Englishman as ‘the special one’ for their game against Spurs on the 22nd of December.

The banner is targeting the club’s former manager Jose Mourinho, who proclaimed he was the ‘special one’ in a press conference when appointed manager of the Blues (via Sky Sports).

Mourinho enjoys a fairly acrimonious relationship with the Stamford Bridge faithful amid a spell with their fierce rivals Manchester United (via 90min).

Following his appointment at Spurs, Mourinho revealed he broke the promise he made to Chelsea fans as he was sacked by the club (via The Metro).

Fans were loving the idea of holding up a banner with Lampard and the words ‘special one’ as they took to Twitter to react.

Here is a selection of tweets from the west London faithful:

Chelsea fans, what do you think of the idea of making the banner? Let us know your thoughts!
