Chelsea fans have been feeling sorry for Olivier Giroud after reports from The Athletic over a prospective move away for the France international.
According to David Ornstein, Chelsea’s chase for a striker is over, therefore, the French striker will remain at the club. He also went on to claim that it would take something ‘extraordinary’ for the current circumstances to change before the 11 pm deadline tonight. Giroud has been wanting a move away from Stamford Bridge this month with reports claiming the west London outfit had agreed on a fee with rivals Tottenham Hotspur (via The Sun).
One fan made his feelings on Giroud clear, describing him as ‘loyal’.
Giroud stays. I feel sorry for this loyal servant. I hope it doesn’t affect his chances at the Euros. https://t.co/HoJe4q5x1M

A move away was being touted because the forward was desperate to secure his place in France’s squad for this summer’s European Championships. The 33-year-old has been left frustrated this season, appearing just seven times across all competitions with Frank Lampard preferring Michy Batshuayi as Tammy Abraham’s understudy, as per Transfermarkt.
Fans were left giving the player their condolences after the report by Ornstein as they took to Twitter to react. Here is a selection of tweets from the Stamford Bridge faithful:
I think Lampard should adjust his tactics so Giroud can have more time

It’s been obvious for the last 4 months at least that Lampard doesn’t rate Giroud. Nobody is telling me that in 4 months they couldn’t find Lampard a more suitable striker, especially after he made it clear that’s what he wants.
Feel sorry for Frank and Oli. Shocking planning.

Absolutely stunned about Giroud not leaving, incredible. Happy we have 3 strikers but feel sorry for Giroud if this leads to him missing the Euro’s, surely he’s got to get more minutes now. #CFC

Can’t help but feel sorry for Oliver Giroud. He hasn’t played regularly under Lampard, yet he hasn’t complained & has publicly shown support for Tammy Abraham.
He wants a move away this month, but thanks to the board’s incompetence, it looking like Giroud’s move won’t happen. pic.twitter.com/aCPhmtu1mJ

I genuinely feel sorry for Giroud. Hasn’t kicked off this year despite not getting game time before the Euros. Has been very professional but looks like he won’t get his move because our board are clueless and haven’t been able to plan ahead and secure a replacement.
