With the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern expecting a major summer of activity, they’re hoping Antonio Conte can build a squad capable of retaining the Premier League.
While the Blues in the bar agree that their current starting XI doesn’t need all that much work, the options from the bench over the course of the campaign will be crucial to Conte. Back in the Champions League, Chelsea will need some reinforcement.
So, reports from the Daily Mail have certainly sparked debate in the blue corner of the bar today. According to their report, the Stamford Bridge giants could make another move to Swansea City striker Fernando Llorente this summer.
Chelsea are said to have made a move for him in January and Conte is thought to be an admirer, having worked with him at Juventus. The World Cup winner notched 15 goals for the Jack Army and proved crucial to their survival, excelling as the focal point of an attack.
Diego Costa’s future at the club remains uncertain and, while Llorente may struggle to truly replace his compatriot, would be a solid backup in the eyes of our resident Blues.
