Chelsea: Fans react as Mason Mount calls for Blues to win first home game under Frank Lampard

Lots of Chelsea supporters have been reacting on social media to a recent claim by Mason Mount, in which the Blues youngster suggested the Stamford Bridge natives are in need of a win on home soil.

Chelsea are yet to win at Stamford Bridge under the tenure of Frank Lampard, with the former Blues midfielder’s sole victories of the campaign so far coming away to Norwich City and Wolverhampton Wanderers (TransferMarkt).

When playing in West London, Lampard’s men have recorded draws against Leicester City and Sheffield United, and were beaten by Valencia CF and Liverpool on the last two occasions a side has visited their home.

Chelsea get another crack at chalking a victory in the win column on Wednesday night in the Carabao Cup, when Grimsby Town make the 190-mile trip south from Blundell Park, and Mount has called for his teammates to focus on doing so.

Speaking with the official Chelsea website, the 20-year-old said: “The fans see how much we put into the game [against Liverpool] and how hard we work for the whole game.

“They probably feel as much as us that we could have got something from the game and it could easily have been a draw. They can see how much we are running and want to win the game. That home win is due, and we need to focus on that.”

Chelsea lost one home fixture in 2019 under the tenure of Maurizio Sarri (TransferMarkt), which was only one of two games the Blues failed to win or draw at Stamford Bridge during the Italian’s sole season at the club.

Here are a selection of the reactions shared to Mount’s recent claim…
