Chelsea: Fans want to see Victor Osimhen at Stamford Bridge - Chelsea

Lille forward Victor Osimhen is starting to make a name for himself as one of the hottest prospects in European football.

The 20-year-old was recently voted as Ligue 1’s Player of the Month for September, with many Chelsea fans keen on the idea of him moving to west London in the not-so-distant future.

In an open interview with France Football (via the Daily Mail), the 20-year-old says it was John Terry’s missed penalty against Manchester United in the 2008 Champions League final that helped motivate him on his journey to becoming a professional footballer.

Having grown up selling bottles of water on the streets of Lagos, Nigeria, Osimhen’s journey to the top level of French football has been far from straightforward.

The young attacker began his playing career at Lagos-based academy ‘Ultimate Strikers’, and started gaining attention after he was called into the Nigeria Under-17s squad for the 2015 U17s World Cup – where he scored 10 times to guide his nation to a record fifth title (via the Daily Mail).

Spells with Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga and Belgian side Charleroi followed his exploits at the 2015 U17s World Cup, and Osimhen is now tearing it up with Lille in Ligue 1, scoring eight goals for the club already this term, per Transfermarkt.

And after netting in Lille’s defeat against Chelsea, it seems fans would like to see more of him, as shown by these Tweets below…
