Chelsea fans will adore latest transfer report over Conte’s striker desire ahead of next season

Antonio Conte really is a popular figure amongst the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern, so the Blues in the bar are always likely to back the charismatic Italian.

Indeed, after delivering a Premier League title during his first season in charge of the Stamford Bridge giants, the fact the club have seemingly struggled to improve their ranks ever since has proved frustrating for our west London locals.

So, reports from the Daily Telegraph have gone down an absolute storm today, with Conte’s name sung often and loudly amongst the Blues in the bar. They claim the boss has instructed top brass in SW6 to go out and sign Everton marksman Romelu Lukaku this summer, regardless of the cost.

The Belgian has been strongly linked with both Chelsea and Manchester United, though Conte is understood to have identified him as the perfect forward to operate as either the main man, or part of a front two.

The Toffees are understood to value him at a world-record £100m, a fee that’s not thought to have deterred Conte’s interest, who reportedly wants him at any cost.

As a result, the task is now up to director Marina Granovskaia, who either has to convince the Goodison Park outfit to drop their asking price, or back Conte to the hilt by making their former star the most expensive player in world football.

Whatever happens on that front, our local Chelsea fans just hope he’s back at the Bridge for the new season.
