There are no shocked faces here in the Football Transfer Tavern as the Daily Star have claimed that Diego Costa is the most wanted man in Europe.
The Atletico Madrid forward is being tracked by not only Chelsea but Arsenal as well, and but for the pact of non-aggression between the two sides from Madrid, our landlord reckons that Real Madrid would be keen as well.
Given his form this season, we are not at all surprised that not only has the list of potential suitors rocketed but also the price of the Brazilian turned Spanish national team player.
Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo claimed that the price would have to match the form of Costa, and noted: “He [Costa] has been with us for many years. He has been in many other teams in Spain [on-loan] and wherever he has been they have spoken well of him,
“And that means one thing, the player is valuable. So everyone wants him.
“He’ll be one of the top goalscorers this season and will shine for Spain in Brazil, I’m sure.
“He has quality and he deserves it, he has worked hard to get where he is.”
Chelsea and Jose Mourinho have placed the forward at the top of their summer wishlist and will stop at nothing to get him – bar letting Thibaut Courtois leave the club on a permanent basis to join Diego Simeone’s men.
Just how much will it cost Chelsea to land the hottest striker in the game right now? Let us know your thoughts below.
